Amazon is pushing the legalization of cannabis

Dublin, June 16, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – ResearchAndMarkets.compublished a new article on the cannabis industry “Amazon Pushes Cannabis Legalization”

Cannabis stocks traded higher this week after Amazon effectively backed the sector by saying it would back state legalization of marijuana.

Amazon says its public policy team will actively support marijuana legalization legislation in the United States and will no longer test its employees for marijuana use. A growing number of US states have made efforts to legalize the drug, although it remains banned at the federal level. The New York state governor signed a law allowing recreational marijuana in March and is joining 14 other American states to begin legalization.

Even if Amazon is not in the cannabis business itself today, industry insiders consider Amazon’s market entry to be a foregone conclusion. Jim Patterson, CEO of Eaze, a cannabis-related start-up, for example, thinks that “there is no doubt that Amazon will get into this business at some point.”
