As part of a parliamentary question, the Minister of Health gave an insight into the management of the supply chain for medical cannabis.
All three strains used for medicinal purposes are scarce. At the end of last year, a new delivery offer was therefore started, but no suitable replacement candidate had yet been found, explained Minister Lenert.
However, the process is still ongoing, she stressed, and it remains to be seen when the next delivery will arrive.
In her official response to the MP Sven Clement from the Pirate Party, Minister Lenert also stated that the propensity of patients to consume had increased since November 2020 and that the expected order would be exceeded.
She therefore emphasized that hospital pharmacy stocks are carefully managed so that there is a reserve even if a delivery is not delivered.
In her response, the Minister of Health also recognized the use of cannabis as a valid treatment alternative.
