In the middle of each of these vertebrae is a canal or void into which the spinal cord passes. The term “canal stenosis” refers to a narrowing of the spinal canal that causes various symptoms. Osteoarthritis, spondylolisthesis, rheumatoid arthritis, herniated discs, and trauma are all causes of canal stenosis. Your doctor can also recommend anti-inflammatory medications or corticosteroid injections. If conservative treatment of spinal stenosis fails to improve symptoms, surgery may be recommended, according to Dr Amy Davidson, the osteopath at crucial health.
